English language challenges

Hello classmates, I hope you are well. This is the last blog post and we have to talk about English. English is a difficult subject for me. When I was in school, the English class made me nervous, I understood the teacher very little and I was embarrassed to speak the language. It was very difficult for me to give a presentation or have an oral test, it still happens to me. My school didn't care that much about this course, so I went to college without a good English base. In addition, a big difference between private schools and municipal or subsidized schools regarding the level of English they teach. In general, it costs me more to speak English than to write. The songs help me to practice pronunciation, however, as I said in the previous post, the subject of listening comprehension is more difficult for me.  It is more complex for me to understand British English than American English, because is more formal and, due to American movies and series, I have become ...

Changes to my study program

Hello classmates! Today I will talk about some changes that I would like to make in my study program. Currently, I’m studying my third year of Sociology. I like my career and generally consider the teachers to be good. However, there are aspects of the curriculum that can be improved. First, although progress has been made on a gender perspective, it’s still lacking. For example, regarding the bibliography of the courses, most of them are texts created by men and, therefore, the perspective of women is rarely studied. Second, it’s necessary to generate more instances of discussion and participation in the courses, especially since it ‘s a profession that, for the most part, requires multidisciplinary teamwork. In addition, more exhibitions or forums should be held on the future professional in sociology and it’s various areas. In relation to English courses, it’s necessary that the classes are more interactive and playful. I honestly feel that from the first English c...

Personal Opinions

Hello classmates, I hope you are well. In this post, I will talk about Personal Opinions. Sharing different points of view is important, because it promotes reflection and learning together. In addition, it gives us the possibility of generating new consensus. It must be taken into account that personal opinions involve feelings, values, critical capacity and various life experiences, which conditions the perspective with which the world is interpreted. So when we interact with someone, it's important to be aware that those factors have a huge influence. I consider that I'm tolerant and respectful of the opinions of other people, however, I believe that limits must be set regarding opinions that denigrate or harm others and entail hatred, resentment and intolerance. For example, homophobic or racist opinions, just to name a few. Certainly, there are opinions that affect me negatively. The examples I gave above annoy me and make me very angry. When they are opinions...

Themed Post: Fast Fashion

After the economic and cultural globalization and especially in the last years, the fast fashion trend has been imposed on the big brands. This concept encompasses series production and consists of changing clothes in stores every fortnight or so, with low prices and, therefore, a wider audience. The concepts of copying, speed and trends are central. The Inditex textile group, with brands such as Zara, Pull & Bear, Bershka, among others, are a reflection of this trend. Regarding it's consequences, United Nations authorities and experts have called the sector an "environmental emergency", given it's negative impacts on the environment and health. The fashion industry is the second that uses more water in it's processes in the world and produces 20% of the wastewater generated globally. More than half a million tons of synthetic and plastic fibers released during washing end up in the oceans. Fast fashion also has social consequences. It's esti...
